Veterinary Technician
As the Countryside Large Animal Veterinary team continues to grow, we are looking for veterinary technicians with a variety of experience to join our team. Be a part of northern Colorado’s premier veterinary practice and referral surgical facility. Candidates should understand that patient care is only part of their role and should see the value in building relationships with clients by giving them peace of mind in leaving their animals in our care.

Full-time Position:
General Practice Technician
-
Recent grad with minimal experience to experienced – pay DOE.
-
Licensed RVT/candidate preferred.
-
4 x 10 hour shifts, set schedule, same day off each week.
-
Weekend rotation every 4-6 weeks.
Skills:
-
Digital Radiology
-
Catheter placement, venipuncture, blood draws
-
Collect lab samples and evaluate or prep for reference lab submittal (chem, CBC, fecal, etc.)
-
Accurately calculate medication dosage, fill prescriptions as directed by veterinarian
-
Proper animal restraint – including foals/horses, small ruminants, cattle chute operation
-
Assist in wellness procedures such as vaccination, dental floats, lameness exam, rehab treatments, etc.
-
Surgical preparation, joint injection site prep, TPR, administer medications, bandage changes
-
Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
-
Hospital and exam area cleaning, stocking of supplies, equipment maintenance
-
Reception and administrative duties, maintain patient records & billing entry
Requirements:
-
Horse experience is absolutely required; livestock handling strongly preferred.
This may come from a lifetime of riding, showing, or working around horses and/or livestock, or strictly work experience, or a combination. -
Great horsemanship skills, a friendly manner, and professional etiquette set you up for success!

Flexibility, professional communication with clients and staff, client confidentiality, efficient time management skills, attention to detail, willingness to continually learn and grow in your profession, and a can-do attitude.

Valid driver’s license, clean background check. Must pass a pre-hire drug test.

Employees with on-call duties must live within 35 minutes of the hospital.

Ability to work on feet all day, and ability to lift 50 pounds.

State-of-the-Art Technology:
We partner with industry leaders in veterinary equipment from diagnostic to surgical equipment. As a technician at Countryside, you will utilize a variety of therapeutic and rehab equipment and have a hand in the recovery of this region’s top equine athletes, including shockwave, laser, and aqua-treadmill to name a few. Assist veterinarians with endoscopy, digital radiology, ultrasonography, run anesthesia, etc.
